Cinco de Mayo will never be the same in Kansas City. The Guinness Book of World Records officially sanctioned the Chihuahua Parade and Festival to attempt to break the record of the most dogs in costume (and raise money for The Pet Connection).

Although the attempt fell short with only 494 dogs showing up for the parade (about 700 were required to break the record), it was still a GREAT turnout for a first time try.
The event organizers will submit to Guinness to see if any other records were broken in the attempt.

Don’t worry, there’s always next year.

There were LOST of terrific costumes and dogs of ALL sizes, from the tiniest Chihuahuas to giant Mastiffs… and even a little pig.

Check out the photos below to see it all…

Too cute! I wasn’t paying attention and had no idea that this was going on in Kansas City. I could have entered Maya. She has a cute little Dorothy-like dress that she wears for events from time to time.
