Chippewa National Forest – Superior National Forest – Pets are generally allowed in wilderness areas. However, you should recognize that they may be bothersome and dangerous to the wildlife in the area and sometimes to other visitors. As such, pets must be kept under your control at all times. In most instances relating to national forests, prohibitions will likely be posted on the entry signs. Inquire at the local ranger district offices for specific regulations. Pets must be restrained or on a leash at all times while in developed recreation areas.

To ensure that you do not show up on a closed day, you may check the dog park schedules that will be posted at the front desk.
Bloomington
Bloomington Off Leash Dog Area
111th St. between Nesbitt and Hampshire Ave. Bloomington, MN
Please, park only in the designated off-leash parking lot. Do not park in the local business’ parking lots and cut across the property. Stay on the city property and respect the rights of the local property owners. If you find that the parking lot is full, please call Parks and Recreation and let us know so that we can address the problem.
Dog licenses
A current dog license is required for entrance into the Off-Leash Area. Residents may purchase their dog license at Bloomington City Hall (1800 West Old Shakopee Road) during business hours. Proof of rabies vaccination is required. Check with the city you live in for licensure requirements.
New users
New users should try to visit the area at non-peak times. Peak times are after work on Monday-Friday and midday on weekends.
The first visit can be somewhat stressful for both you and your dog. You may be unsure about how your dog will behave. Your dog, if not well socialized, may be worried by the presence of other dogs and people. Stress and anxiety could ruin the experience for you and your dog(s), so try to keep those initial visits short and happy.

Burnsville
Alimagnet Dog Park
1200 Alimagnet Parkway Burnsville, MN 55337
Alimagnet Dog Park is located on County Road 11, two blocks north of County Road 42. It is across from the baseball diamonds and next to the children’s play structure. Look for the double gates.
Open daily – 365 days a year – from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Features of Our Award-Winning Park:
Dog Washing Station: In the summer, park users have free use of a dog-washing station across the parking lot from the dog park’s main gates. (Note: This water is not suitable for human consumption.)
Double-Entry Gates: The double gates are intended to allow you and your dog to enter and exit the park without allowing other dogs to enter or exit the park.
Pick-Up Bags: Free pick-up bags are supplied by park sponsors and kept stocked by volunteers. Please pick up after your dog!
Pond: The pond is a natural wetland that grows duckweed in the summer. Gravel is purchased and spread on the beach by volunteers to control erosion and minimize muddy paws. Please do not throw gravel into the pond.
Weather Shelter: Volunteers purchased and built the weather shelter in 2004. In 2006, a donor contributed timed heaters and a heated water bowl. Park patrons haul in water and keep this area clean.
Special Needs Dog Run: In 2005, the PACK (People of Alimagnet Caring for K9s) opened a Special Needs Dog Run for small, timid, fragile, and elderly dogs. Like the main park, the Special Needs Dog Run has its own double-gated safety entrance and pick-up bag dispenser. Alimagnet Dog Park users – and users of the Special Needs Dog Run – are strongly encouraged to purchase household permits because these fees help to offset the costs of construction, maintenance, and improvements to the park.
Plus, with an investment of just $20 per year, permit-holders receive: Automatic membership in the
PACK (People of Alimagnet Caring for K9s), Free use of the dog park and its adjacent dog-washing facility, and One year (3 issues) of the PACK’s newsletter, “The Scoop,” containing news, general information, and anecdotes about the dog park and its guests.
Permit applications are available on-line, at the park, or at the Burnsville City Hall Recreation Center. For more information call
952-895-4500.
Night Lights: In 2006, a donor provided lighting for the park, making it possible to use the park on winter evenings. Lights come on at dawn and turn off at 10:00 p.m. daily.

MSP Airport Dog Park
Hwy 62 & 28th Ave S Minneapolis, MN 55412
The airport dog park is on an 80-acre parcel of land owned by the Metropolitan Airport Commission and situated in the northwest corner of the airport property. (For you aviation buffs, the southern park fence borders the end of Runway 12R.)
This has not been substantiated by anyone at MAC, but rumor has it that the airport management decided to let dogs and their owners roam the property to help deter crime, such as breaking into cars parked in the employee lot.
Because this dog park is not managed by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (nor located in the city limits, for that matter), you do not need to have an off-leash permit to use it. However, there are no services or management provided. Owners are expected to pick up after their dogs and take it with them for disposal off park grounds.
The property is not entirely fenced in. If you’re new to the park, please read Info for New Visitors for important safety information.
Directions:
Take the Crosstown Highway (Hwy 62) to the 28th Street Exit. Turn south toward the airport and go to the end of the street. You’ll see the MAC offices on the right. The dog park is the grassy area between the MAC building and the runways. You may park along the street or in the MAC parking lot. www.airportdogpark.com

Plymouth
Egan Park Off Leash Area
17105 Co. Rd. 47. Plymouth, MN 55446
You can exercise your dog at the City of Plymouth’s off-leash dog area at Egan Park in northwest Plymouth.
The park is on the south side of Co. Rd. 47 about two blocks west of Dunkirk Ln. at approximately 17105 Co. Rd. 47. The park includes a mowed open play area as well as two mowed trails.
The 10-acre off leash dog area is not fenced, but native plants have been allowed to grow to create natural barriers to discourage dogs from straying off the property. The mowed trails and large play area also encourage dogs to stay in certain areas.
Because water currently is not available at the park, owners should bring water with them for their dogs. Future development in the park may include a watering pond.
Owners should also bring plastic bags to clean up after their pets. Pet owners are encouraged to bring extra plastic bags to donate for others to use. Trash containers are provided at the site.

St. Paul
Arlington/Arkwright Off – Leash Dog Area
Arlington/Arkwright Off – Leash Dog Area, commonly referred to as OLDA, is located on the corner of Arlington and Arkwright.
Approximately 4.5 acres, open sunrise to sunset, this long rectangle of park land includes wooded trails, open space and a large bowl-shaped slope.
Nestled in a residential neighborhood, this park offers people and pets an opportunity to engage in social interaction and play.
Parking: Arlington/Arkwright offers parking for visitors with a lot located on the NW corner of Arlington/Arkwright.
Entrances: The park, which is completely enclosed offers 5 entrance areas. The main and secondary entrances are at the northern most end of the OLDA adjacent to the west and east sides of the tennis court. These entrances are closest to the parking lot. There are 2 entrances along Arkwright Street – one near the northern end and the other near the southern end. The final entrance is at the SE corner of the park located at Clark Street. Each entrance has a swing gate which needs to be closed upon entering and exiting.
Wooded trails: Wooded trails line the park and are covered with wood chips to provide a stable walking surface. The wood chips prevent the build-up of mud during wet periods and creates a safer trail experience. Walking is ENCOURAGED because it adds to the health benefits of the park, and minimizes congregating animals.
Open Space: A popular feature to the park is vast open space at the park’s northern entrance. This has become the “commons” area of the park. Handlers can toss balls, frisbees and other toys while their pets race along the open space chasing down their toys. This area is also covered with wood chips. If your dog tends to be possessive of it’s own toys, do not bring them from home. Use the “community toys” that are found at the park.
Benches and tables: The “commons” area has 2 picnic tables, a bleacher style bench and several lawn chairs. The tables have been provided by Parks and Recreation and the chairs and bench have been provided by OLDA visitors. This allows users to sit in the shade, or visit with other park users. Food in the park is not allowed because it can trigger aggressive behaviors between dogs.
Water: Running water is not available at the park. Users are responsible to supply water for their animals. ROMP encourages visitors to bring milk jugs full of water each time they visit to share with others.
