OCT 27:  Boos & Barks Halloween Parade (Lee’s Summit, MO) – Children and small dogs (under 20 lbs.) are invited to wear costumes and join in the parade from City Hall Plaza to Howard Station Park. After the parade, children are welcome to trick-or-treat at participating downtown businesses. Awards will be given out for the best costumes. Time: 10am – 12pm, Place: Downtown Lee’s Summit, 2nd and Douglas Street, Lees Summit, MO 64063, Cost: Free

OCT 7:  Project Poochie Fashion Show to benefit Heartland SPCA – The SASSY Program presents an annual fashion show feature shelter alumni and their human companions. The event features food, fun and fashion! Save the date for Oct. 7th, 2012!

OCT 14:  Babies Don’t Bark – Pre-natal class (Shawnee Mission, KS) – Learn how to prepare your dog for baby’s arrival, understand dog body-language basics, and solve attention-seeking behavior. This class clears up myths, emphasizes realistic expectations, and sets new parents and family dogs up for success even before baby arrives! We will also teach you how to set up safe and smooth introductions between baby and dog, and ways to include your dog in activities once baby comes home. Dogs & Storks offers positive, practical, and fun solutions for new and expecting families! Great for expectant parents, adoptive parents, grandparents and extended family, childcare providers, nannies and anyone else who wants to learn how wonderful life with babies and dogs can be! OCT 20: Poker for Pooches benefit for the Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation (Olathe, KS) – Join us for the Alliance’s Annual Poker for Pooches poker tournament. Great prizes and lots of fun! OCT 21:  Dogtober Fest (Blue Springs, MO) – The perfect afternoon for both dog owners and lovers. A variety of events will showcase the talents of our four legged friends. Dog owners can enter their canine companions in various events including “Tails for Trails,” agility contests, and obedience obstacle courses. OCT 22-26: Kansas City Veterinary Care’s Annual Halloween Photo Contest – Join Kansas City Veterinary Care for our Halloween Costume Contest. Post a picture of your pet dressed in the best costume you can come up with on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/KansasCityVeterinaryCare) or email the picture to jkasiska@kcvetcare.com. We’ll post all of the photos in a Facebook album and starting on 10/27 we will ask all of our Facebook fans to vote on their favorite costume. HOW TO VOTE: All you have to do is “LIKE” the picture you think is the best in the album, NOT on our wall. What are the prizes? Gift certificates to KCVC! 1st Place will recieve a $100 gift certificate to KCVC, 2nd Place $50 gift certificat, and 3rd Place a $25 gift certificate. Good Luck!

OCT 27: 3rd Annual Bow Wow Ween Costume Party (Prairie Village, KS) – Join us at Queen of Paws Boutique & Spa (4515 W. 90th Street, Prairie Village, Kansas 66207) for lots of fun at our 3rd annual pet costume contest with children activities, parade & fun!
