Cinco de Mayo will never be the same in Kansas City. The Guinness Book of World Records officially sanctioned the Chihuahua Parade and Festival to attempt to break the record of the most dogs in costume (and raise money for The Pet Connection).

Reduced License Fees & “Free Ride Home” for Licensed Pets in KCMO

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Neighborhood and Community Services Department announces that effective Sunday, Jan. 22, City pet licensing fees will be reduced in an effort to encourage residents to license their pet dogs, cats and ferrets, as is required by the City’s Code of Ordinances. The city will also implement a “Free ride home program” allowing “licensed” lost or stray pets to be taken home instead of to the shelter.

Anthem College Open House Will Feature New Veterinary Facility

The December 10, 2011 event will include ribbon-cutting for new Veterinary Technology program training site. In addition to the Open House, the College will open a new facility to house its Veterinary Technology Associate of Applied Science degree program. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Open House will also feature Anthem College’s healthcare programs.

Here’s a story about how things work for regular folks in a city that doesn’t. (If you’re a dog owner, that is.)
A little more than three years ago, a friend of mine thought it would be neat to have an off-leash dog area in a park in her part of the city [Kansas City, MO in case you were wondering]. Dog parks are very popular because millions of people have dogs. Other cities build them because they attract young professionals — the perfect demographic to help cities grow.

Having a “dog” and a beer at a baseball game will take on a whole new meaning for the first time at the Kansas City’s Kaufman Stadium as the Kansas City Royals welcome fans and their dogs to watch them play the Minnesota Twins on September 27th for the first annual Bark at the K event.
